Gateway College Chess Champions again

Gateway College repeated its last year's performance by winning the overall Championship at the Inter International Schools Chess Championship.

The competition organized by Regent International School Gampaha saw over 500competitors competingin 6 age groups.

Lyceum International School Nugegodaemerged the first runner-up and Lyceum International School Wattala emerged the second runner-up.Gateway College won the Under 10, 14 and 19 Championships. In Under 12 Gateway's 'A' team was the First Runner up and the 'B' team was the Second Runner up. The performance of the Gateway squad put them well ahead of the others in the overall points table. Nabil Nazar, Joel Shankar, Brijeash Saravanabavaan(Under 10), Jithindu Athapaththu (Under 12), Thenula Hennayake, Kulisa Nanayakkara, Hevidu Samarakoon (Under 14), Gajitha Nanayakkara, Yathidu Arangala, Bharatha Gunasena and Yukthika Fernando(Under 19) won Board prizes at this competition.
