Fruitful talks to fast-track Chinese projects in Lanka

The three-member committee appointed to facilitate and fast-track Chinese projects in Sri Lanka held fruitful discussions with the Chinese partners, Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama said.

Samarawickrama told the Sunday Observer that all major projects initiated by China would proceed, with the government’s fullest cooperation. “The committee will look into each and every large scale development project and troubleshoot any problems concerning them.

“The committee will look into each and every large scale development project and troubleshoot any problems concerning them. The discussions we had with the Chinese partners were highly fruitful as it gave us an opportunity to understand and assess their issues,” the Minister said.

Special Assignments Minister, Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama and Economic Affairs Ministry Consultant R.Paskaralingam were appointed members of the committee in April.

The committee was appointed following the Prime Minister’s visit to China.
