Vatican City: Nearly 9,000 members of Rotary from across the globe attended the Jubilee Audience at the Vatican in St. Peter’s Square on April 30 at the invitation of Pope Francis. The delegation led by Rotary International President K.R.Ravindran met Pope Francis where he emphasised the importance of vaccinations against polio and urged Rotary to continue their campaigns.

With Vesak round the corner, cleaning and colour-washing temples, making Vesak pandals and lanterns and collecting food to be given to devotees in dansalas are a regular feature. Here the Ruwanweli Maha Seya is being painted by a group of devotees in preparation for Vesak.
