Cricket Aid launched- initial pledges raise over £200,000


Former England captain Graham Gooch who was a guest speaker at the SLC Cricket Aid launch in London in conversation with Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera and SLC president Thilanga Sumathipala.

Sri Lanka Cricket's Cricket Aid was launched in London on Saturday evening (June 4) amidst a packed gathering of cricketers and well-wishers. The dinner, which was preceded by a tour of Lord's and followed by a documentary presentation that detailed the work of Cricket Aid as well as the CKD pandemic.

Cricket Aid established in 2004 following the Boxing Day tsunami revealed that that over £200,000 was pledged at the launch events held on June 4 and 5 (being an open event held at the Oval, Surrey where the Sri Lanka national team met and mingled with cricket lovers residing in the UK).
