Hayleys Fabric supports CKD-hit NCP
Hayleys Fabric extended its corporate social responsibility (CSR)
program in the Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) affected North Central
Province with scholarships to students and purified water to residents
in Rathmalgahawewa, Anuradhapura.
The Hayleys Group commissioned the 11th Reverse Osmosis plant to
provide purified water to residents in the NCP under Hayleys Puritas
Sath Diyawara, a CSR initiative of the Group, a company press release
said.
Over 25,000 residents in 16 villages are benefited by the program
which provides 110,000 litres of drinking water daily. Hayleys, chose
Puritas Sath Diyawara as its flagship CSR project due to the increasing
prevalence of CKD in the NCP estimated to have affected around 400,000
residents accounting to around 10 to15% of the population in the
province claiming over 22,000 lives.
Hayleys Puritas Sath Diyawara, was launched by Puritas, a subsidiary
of the purification sector of Hayleys. The objective of Puritas Sath
Diyawara is to combat the rising prevalence of CKD by leveraging the
company's expertise in water purification, to prevent further spread of
the disease whilst reversing the conditions of the existing patients.
