'Boat Show Sri Lanka 2016' in October
Sri Lankan boat builders and marina developers expect a major growth
in their business over the next few years as they make preparations for
the annual Boat Show and Fisheries Exhibition Sri Lanka 2016 in October.
The event is organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB)
and the Boat Building Technology Improvement Institute (BTI) in
association with the Ministry of Development Strategies and
International Trade, Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and
Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
The boat show is dubbed as the platform for boat builders to display
their ability and to attract foreign investment in the sector.
It will be held at the Dickowita Fishery Harbour from October 13 to
15. In 2014, the boat show in Dickowita attracted 10,000 visitors.
Meanwhile boat manufacturers say their industry was affected
significantly by the EU ban.
They hope that with the lifting of the ban, the industry's future
would be positive.
The main objective of the boat show is to provide a single platform
for all related business sectors involved directly and indirectly in the
boat and ship-building industry and fisheries sector to display and
promote their respective sectors for potential clients, the organizers
said. |
