Introduction of mediation process to the school system

The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam says that steps
will be taken to introduce the mediation process to the school system
with the help of the Ministry of Justice.
The minister stated these ideas while participating in the district
mediation board conference in Kurunegala recently.
The mediating officers perform an outstanding duty on conflict
resolution to arrive at a compromise through negotiations without going
to the level of litigation. Therefore, steps have been taken to
introduce the mediation process to the school system. More than 1000
members of 30 mediation boards in Kurunegala District participated in
this event. A large gathering including the Minister of Justice,
Wijayadasa Rajapaksa participated on this occasion.

'Nearest School is the Best School' starts from Bandaragama

The government has identified the development of all schools as a
priority need with the aim of providing equal educational opportunities
to all the children in the country.
Accordingly, the program "Nearest School is the Best School" will be
introduced to the school system with the patronage of the Minister of
Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam under the directions and instructions
of the President and the Prime Minister.
The national inaugural function organised for this purpose was held
at the Vidyaloka Junior School, Bandaragama, Kalutara recently under the
patronage of Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam. The selection of schools
for the "Nearest School is the Best School" program was done under four
main projects and arrangements have been made to develop these schools
under three identified areas.
Accordingly, steps will be taken to develop 600 schools selected to
represent each divisional secretariat division, 1200 schools with
Advanced Level classes that are not included in the recent development
programs, 776 schools included in the secondary schools development
program and 3577 schools under the primary schools development project.
These developmental activities will be carried out after identifying the
needs of each school . |
