The two Sri Lankan hostages rescued from the upscale Bangladeshi Cafe which was under siege by heavily armed men on Friday night, have been admitted to a military hospital for treatment for severe trauma, the acting Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Bangladesh Sesath Thambugala told the Sunday Observer.

Speaking on the phone from the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka the acting High Commissioner said the two Sri Lankans were businessmen who had been living in Bangladesh for sometime. Their identities have been withheld for security reasons.

“They are under severe trauma, after the tragic experience,” she said adding that the Sri Lankan government was extremely grateful for the prompt action by the Bangladeshi Forces to save the hostages.
