Damro gets nod for expansion in India

Well-known local retailer and furniture specialist, Damro hopes to expand its presence in India by setting up of mega showrooms in main cities in that country. “The Indian government has already granted approval for Damro to invest Indian Rs. 12,000 million in the furniture retail trade in India. This approval to enter the Indian furniture industry has only been granted to two foreign companies – Damro of Sri Lanka and Ikea of Sweden,” a Damro official said. Damro last week opened a mega showroom, consisting of five storeys in Nugegoda.

...– a new shopping experience for local customers. At present, Damro has a wide network of 150 showrooms in Sri Lanka and 60 showrooms in India. Damro exports over 1,000 containers of furniture to India annually.

“We hope to increase our volumes up to 10,000 containers with the new investments. We also plan to increase our presence in Sri Lanka by opening two more mega-stores in Galle and Katubedda shortly,” the official said.
