According to Rohitha the Austrian World Music Prize 2003 was not only a trophy but a cash prize of 2,000 Euros. "The band that came second was an Irish band called Nifty's and in third position was a Latin American band calling themselves Son Dos. It was a great feeling winning the prize and we were proud that we Sri Lankans were selected as the best out of ten bands in the final round.
Jayasri who left Sri Lanka on January 15 were going straight into concert performance organised by the IKKZ in Germany and Italy for a start. The group has recorded three new songs and three new videos for release this year. Jayasri now comprises Rohitha - vocals/guitar/percussion, Rohan - vocals/bass, Aruna Liyanage - vocals/lead guitar, Sumal Fernando - drums, Moses Afanyi (from Africa), playing percussion, Parvez Sayed (from Bangladesh) on keyboards and also Albert Koler (from Austria) on keyboards. We wish them success in the future. |
