Suntel WOW motor racing at Pannala on Feb. 14 and 15 by A.C. DE SILVA Suntel WOW Championship which marks the entry to motor racing circuit of Sri Lanka's Telecom/Internet providers in Suntel WOW has stormed into the motor racing scene and will put out Round One of the Championship on February 14 and 15 at the Pannala International Circuit. After the lay off for the Christmas holidays drivers and riders who have been eagerly waiting to try their luck on the road with their machines will get the opportunity of showing their skills at this meet which is run on the same lines as the 2003 championships. The Ceylon Motor Sports Club in association with Sri Lanka Racing Riders Association will conduct this meet which is the first of the three-round championship planned out by the two organisations at Sri Lanka's only purpose-built race track. It is bound to be a treat for both competitors and spectators as the top-notch riders and drivers will be seen in action. While the attention will focus on Sri Lanka's drivers and riders, there is every chance of some of expatriate drivers too participating. This is the first circuit meet to be held this year and spectators are bound to get their fair share of thrills. In the car events, it is expected champions like Dinesh Deheragoda, the father and son combination of Mannapperuma, Dan Dissanayake, Dilantha Malagamuwa, Rizvi Farouk and formula ace driver Rohan de Silva will be seen in action. McLaren Lubricants Limited who have supported motor racing in the country will continue doing so. Entries for the championship will be accepted at Ceylon Motor Sports Club offices at Jinasena Limited No. 4 Hunupitiya Road, Colombo 2. |
