Bright future for IT industry The country's IT industry will have a promising future, the Resident Representative to JETRO Colombo Yasuyuki Ishiga said addressing a JETRO sponsored IT business forum recently. He said that Sri Lankan IT companies can make use of AOTS (Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship) program to get their staff trained in Japan or invite Japanese lecturers to visit Sri Lanka and conduct training programs and seminars for IT industry groups for a specific period. The Chairman, Sri Lanka Telecom Shuhei Annan, in his video presentation on "Infrastructure of Sri Lanka Telecom Towards Development of the IT Industry" said that they are ready to serve the IT industry in the country. In his speech he said that SLT is now ready to support the IT industry in Sri Lanka using new wire and wireless services for the development of industries, and the country as a whole. Speaking on IT business match-making between Sri Lanka and Japan, he emphasised that mutual trust and belief is of prime importance to get the business realised. The JETRO sponsored IT business forum, attended by 22 participants from EDB, BOI, JICA, JBIC, The Embassy of Japan, School of Computing University of Colombo, Sri Lanka Telecom and leading Japanese and Local IT firms in Sri Lanka was held in Colombo recently to discuss and identify the barriers in business match making in the field of ICT between Japan and Sri Lanka. |
