Clear Water cool and refreshing
The result was Clear Water, led by keyboardist Janath Kulatilleke whose music career commenced with a band called 'Danz' then switched to 'Saints' and came to stay with 'Heat' performing at many leading hotels and discos in Colombo, and in the Southern circuit. As a member of the band Heat, Janath has had the experience of playing abroad for shows in the Middle East, Maldives, India and Australia and has gathered knowledge on how best to acquire audience appeal. The glitz and glamour is radiated by the sultry singer Mariesz Abdul-Cader who tells us she was trained in Classical and Opera for eight years, performed with the Merry An Singers and then decided to move into the modern trend of singing pop, rock, r&b with the band Dream Team. Her favourite singer? "Well it is Whitney Houston and her songs like "I Will Always Love You," "He's All The Man That I Need", "Greatest Love Of All" and "Saving All My Love For You." But with the band we play a wide repertoire of music from the 60s through to 80s inclusive of contemporary pop songs. Clear Water has been playing for dances and we were at the Taj Airport Gardens recently for a dance. We hope to move into the UBG for performances" says Mariesz who herself has performed in the Maldives, Oman and Dubai with the band Mercury and Revelations. Giving the stick and drum thrust to the band Clear Water is Indika Perera who was one time member of Dream Shadows and Breeze and now with this band he is enjoying himself. Adding vocals to the exciting sounds of the band is the bassist Gihan Shalinda, a former member of Saman and the Clan and has considerable experience playing at many hotels down South and abroad in the Middle East, Maldives and Hong Kong. Finally there's the guitarist/vocalist Janaka Colombage who started his music career with Breeze playing at many leading hotels in Colombo and down South. Clear Water has performed at Rhythm and Blues, and Molly's - two places that throb with music activity - so catch their vibes 'cos they say they "are capable of handling any audience." |
