Students loans from CIMA by Chanuka Mannapperuma The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) launched a loan scheme for its students, with two leading banks, Hatton National and Sampath cooperating.Explaining the scheme, Senior Manager,Consumer Banking,HNB N.Premarajah said that the loan scheme is available for both prospective as well as present students.Loans upto Rs.300,000 may be obtained without any security.Parents will have to obtain loans on behalf of non working students. Students should be backed by two guarantors in order to obtain a loan.A repayment period of four years is available for all applicants and a grace period of six months will be offered on a case by case basis. He said that the lnterest rate will be 14.5%.Loan application forms are available at all branches of the Banks.President, CIMA Sri Lanka Division Claude Perera said, "This is a good opportunity for students in rural areas who wish to pursue a career in CIMA. He said that some students wish to do CIMA courses,but most of them have financial problems.For those students this will be a ideal opportunity." He also said that the loan scheme will specially help those candidates of CIMA and ICA Sri Lanka who wish to make use of reciprocal arrangements to obtain the qualification of the other institutes. Those applying for special courses at SLIIT could also make use of the Bank loan scheme. |
