Aussies win again The touring Australian women's cricket team recorded their second successive win beating their Sri Lankan counterparts by 60 runs in a limited over match played at the R.Premadasa Stadium, Khettarama yesterday. The Aussies, who won the toss and elected to bat, scored 215 for 9 in their 50 overs, and the Lankans replied with 155 for 9 in their 50 overs. The Australian innings was built around two half century partnerships. Julie Woerner (50 ) with six fours off 51 deliveries and Kate Blackwell (28) added 54 runs for the second wicket which was followed by a Blackwell - Kelly Applebee stand of 50 runs for the third wicket which gave the visitors a substantial total to defend. The Sri Lankans, in their turn, batted the 50 overs, but just could not make it. Eshani Kaushalya top scored with 41 off 72 deliveries with seven fours while Enoka Kankanamge chipped in with a useful 24. Sarah Andrews ( 3 for 44) and Kirsten Pike ( 2 for 25) bowled best for the visitors. Australia 215 for 9 in 50 overs.
