They were three days that will be etched in your memories for a long time to come. The BMICH was teeming with thousands and thousands of kids of all ages who had arrived from all parts of the country for a day of fun and entertainment, as they have never seen before. The event was the Butterfly Carnival organised by the Media and Information Ministry, in collaboration with the Presidential Secretariat, Education Ministry and Ports and Aviation Ministry. The event under the theme 'Celebrating Childhood' was held from October 16 to 18 to mark Universal Children's Day, which fell on the first of this month. The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd (Lake House), Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, Independent Television Network and Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation were the media sponsors of the event. The giant wheel, merry-go-rounds, stage performances by cartoon characters, singing and dancing items, book exhibitions and art competitions were some of the activities that the kids enjoyed. The kids went home with joy in their hearts, bursting to brag about the fun they had to all their friends who could not make it to the carnival. Our cover picture is from the same event.
