Formation of UNP and after

Just before Independence was to be granted which was on the cards, D. S. Senanayake was making plans to form a new Party, as he had problems with the National Congress. Some of the members there wanted to bring in the Communist Party members into the Congress to which D.S. would not agree. He was dead opposed to the Left.
