Busy schedule for Anura Rohana and Lalith Kumara

Sri Lanka's Anura Rohana who finished joint 20th with India's Digvijay Singh and Gerald Rosales of the Philippines at the US Dollars 200,000 Crown Plaza Open in Shanghai, China last week, is presently figuring at the Sanya Pen Open at the Yalong Bay Gold Club Course on Hainan Island also in China and then is scheduled to over to Vietnam to play in the Carlsberg Masters from November 4 to 7 before returning to Colombo. All three tournaments are on the Asian Professional Golfers Association (APGA) Tour.

After his return to Colombo on November 10, both Anura Rohana, together with Lalith Kumara who turned professional only this year after winning the national amateur titles in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, leaves for India to play in two tournaments on the Indian Professional Golfers Association (IPGA) Tour. The first is th Tata Open at Jamshedpur from November 16 to 19 and the other is the Servo Masters at the Digby Golf Club course in Assam from November 24 to 27.

At the Crown Plaza Open in Shanghai, Rohana, had an aggregate 290 (71, 75, 73, 71) and tied with Digvijay Singh (69, 76, 72, 73) and Rosales (67, 72, 75, 76). This was won by Australia's Terry Pilkadaris 280 (67, 69, 72, 72), while the Thai veteran Boonchu Ruangkit was the runner-up on 281 (68, 72, 73, 68). One hundred and thirty-two players competed in Shanghai.

In his first tournament for the year, Rohana, was eighth at the Tianjin TEDA Open in China on the APGA Tour, while finishing ninth at the Amby Valley MGC Open in Chennai and joint 17th at the Hyundai TNGF Open also in Chennai on the IPGA Tour.

Lalith Kumara, on the other hand, was 32nd at the Amby Valley MGC Open in Chennai, joint 44th at the Hyundai TNGF Open also in Chennai, 21st at the Hero Honda Open in Bangalore and 40th at the HT Pro Golf tournament also on the IPGA Tour.

Rohana who finished 96th out of over 300 golfers on the APGA Tour in his first year as professional together with Lalith Kumara, will play more in the 22 tournaments of the IPGA Tour (India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka) this year.
