Jeep Grand Cherokee launched

by Don Asoka Wijewardena

At Dimo we are proud to introduce to you the best, the latest and the most inspiring products as we have taken an initiative in introducing global brands such as Mercedes, Tata and Bosch in Sri Lanka for the last 65 years.

Dimo has evolved as an automobile industry leader with a rich history and has reached groundbreaking heights in performance, refinement and innovative styling, said Dimo Chief Executive Officer Ranjith Pandithage at the launch ceremony of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee at the Diesel and Motor Engineering Company Ltd, Colombo.

Pandithage said that the Jeep Grand Cherokee in its new design had taken a quantum leap forward by transforming the original Jeep into a sophisticated and stunning model and added that the new Jeep possessed a legendary reputation for the off-road capability and luxurious on-road comfort, safety and security.

The Grand Cherokee with two engine capacities offered a V,4-7 litre SOHC petrol-driven power plant and a 3 litre diesel turbo version for Sri Lanka's roads.

Referring to the state-of-the-art mechanical system of the new jeep, Pandithage said that Jeep Cherokee with a longer wheel base and wider track and a uniframe construction could be relied on for a smooth ride as its innovative four wheel anticlock brake system would help drivers to maintain steering control on slippery road surfaces.

According to Pandithaga, Jeep Cherokee equipped with the most advanced 4 WD power plant, the quantra Trac Active 4WD system along with an electronic limited slip differential offers the ultimate in off-road traction and supporting the function of this innovative technology is a new and stronger engineered suspension system that improves road holding capability in any terrain.
