Sri Lanka Entrepreneur 2004 competition The 10th Sri Lanka Entrepreneur 2004 competition, conducted by FCCISL will take place in December, with entries open from now, to end-September. FCCISL - Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka, is the apex body of trade chambers in the country, encompassing 45 of the highest chambers in the island. This is FCCISL's flagship event. FCCISL president, Nawaz Rajabdeen said that the event is Sri Lanka's foremost business awards program, conducted an all-island basis covering the entire spectrum of business activity. The program has equally recognised the socio-economic contributions made by hundreds of Sri Lankan entrepreneurs ranging from micro, level, home based enterprise in remote areas, to the large scale corporate company in Colombo. The awards will be made on the basis of 12 regions and the winner will vie for national honours. The events would cover micro, small, medium, large and extra large enterprises, within the identified agricultural, industrial and services sectors. In the case of multiple activities, enterprises would be classified according to its main business activity. There would be four stages of judging where the contestants would be interviewed, sites visited and a thorough process of evaluation will be held that would determine the success achieved as an entrepreneur. As in past years the panel of judges would consist of some of the leading and well respected members of the private and public sectors who would be able to apply an independent process of evaluation. This year, a special category of awards will be held for tsunami affected enterprises taking into account the success they had made following the Asian tsunami of December 2004. The media sponsor is ANCL, the publishing house of the Daily News and The Sunday Observer. |
