Chamith Kulasekera - an outstanding cricketer by Upananda Jayasundera - Kandy Sports Special Corr. Chamith Kosala Bandara Kulasekera of Vidyartha College, Kandy has been selected as one of the most outstanding students for the year 2005. Kulasekera represented Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket team at the World Cup Cricket Tournament held in Bangaladesh in 2003 and also won the cricket scholarship to UK from Sri Lanka Cricket in 2004. He was the winner from Central Province apart from 13 other students from the whole island. Kulasekera was selected as one of the best students by a panel of judges consisting of J. D. Bandaranayake (Deputy Chairman-Ceylon Tobacco & Director SEMA); Dr. Radhika Coomaraswamy (Chairperson, Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka); Prof. Thilak Hettiarachchi (Vice Chancellor, University of Colombo); Dr. Rani Jayamaha (Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka); Mr. Muththiah Muralitharan (Lanka's cricket star); Mrs. Sumithra Peiris (Respected and renowned film director); Prof. Manourie Senanayake (Professor in Paediatrics & Head of Faculty, University of Colombo and Prof. A. H. Sheriffdeen (Eminent Consultant Surgeon). |
