AAP first anniversary celebrations The Academy for Administrative Professionals (AAP) held its first anniversary celebrations from April 22-29, commencing with a full-day seminar titled 'Creating Excellence - Passion for Success' for senior administrative professionals working in the private and public sectors. The Chief Guest BOI Chairman Lakshman R. Watawala, who delivered the keynote address spoke on a very successful personality in the business world Jack Welsh, the CEO of General Electric Company, whose success was due to the changes he made in his already successful company to make it more successful. His strategy was to change the thinking of his employees, giving them opportunities to build self-confidence, learn to lead by creating a vision, maintaining a less formal and fearless office environment, encouraging fresh thoughts, simplifying methods, removing bureaucracy, brain storm, more participation with speed and confidence, stretching goals and having fun while achieving success. Dr. Sunil Jayantha Nawaratne, a well-known scholar, Management Consultant, Advisor and Lecturer in MBA and MSc program spoke on 'Management Strategies for a fearless future' where through actual statistics was able to bring into focus the positioning of Sri Lanka's economic development over the past 50 years. S. Sri Kumar, Director, Administration of Watawala Plantations spoke on the importance of leading through example. His key words were "Put the person together and the world will automatically come together", very appropriate to the information he shared on global positioning of the Administrative Professional. Sudath Ittapana, trainer in marketing, distributed verbal tools to 're-invent' challenges and changes for the better functioning of the Administrative Professional. |
