Hony IPM membership for HRM contribution
The Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) conferred Honorary
Membership on three eminent personalities for their contribution to the
development of Human Resource Management (HRM) at the IPM Awards 2006 at
the BMICH.
Prof. Sudatta Ranasinghe, Moksevi R. Prelis and Franklyn Amarasinghe
were conferred honorary membership at the ceremony.
Prof. Sudatta Ranasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and
Social Sciences of the Open University of Sri Lanka, Moksevi R. Prelis,
Chairman SME Bank and Franklyn Amarasinghe, former Director General
Employers' Federation of Sri Lanka have rendered yeomen service in the
field of (HRM) locally and internationally.
The enrolment of the three distinguished personalities will not only
add colour but also value to the IPM. This institute is extremely happy
and proud to have such resourceful personnel who will make a difference
in organisational and leadership activities of business institutes in
the country, President IPM, Daya Bollegala said.
Today human resource's is equally important as capital for
organisational growth. In the past it was capital and investment that
were important for corporate success.
Bollegala said "Without human resource management no organisation
could achieve what it wants. There is a limit to what machines could do.
However much machines are advanced and sophisticated, they cannot outdo
human intellect. Therefore, human intelligence is far superior to any
instrument in the world".
The IPM has been training and developing leadership and
entrepreneurial skills of people to be innovative, dynamic and
productive for over four decades in the country. The institute will
continue to do so for the welfare of the community and development of
the country at large, Bollegala said.
Minister of Education, Susil Premajayantha said "The IPM has trained
and developed the much needed human resource for the development of the
economy and the country for the past four decades. The country is
appreciative of the invaluable services rendered by IPM to the growth of
organisations both in leadership and entrepreneurial skills and in
particular for the success of corporate institutes.
Over 1,000 students who were trained at the IPM in Human Resource
Management received certificates at the ceremony. |
