EMC Corp in three-pronged strategy to tap IT market here
EMC Corporation, a leader in information management and storage
solutions with a revenue of US$ 9.66 billion in 2005 launched operations
in Sri Lanka recently.
The Corporation outlined its three-pronged strategy to tap the
potential IT market in the country. The three focal pillars of EMC's
business strategy for Sri Lanka are generating awareness on the
importance of information management and storage solutions, creating
local partnerships and launching products and solutions to meet growing
corporate needs.
EMC will leverage its office to provide sales and support the
regional distributor, Redington and the other channel partners-
Enterprise Technology (Pvt), Data Management Systems Ltd., and Just in
Time Holdings Group, President-India and SAARC, EMC, Manoj Chugh said.
Chugh said Sri Lanka is a burgeoning market for information
technology adoption. The banking, textile and apparel are the most
dynamic verticals in the country's fast adoption of IT. As these sectors
are pruning their IT and business operation the EMC sees immense
potential for information management and storage solutions in the
market.
The objective of launching operations in Sri Lanka is to assist the
organisation to effectively manage information technology and transfer
IT knowledge and skills to develop businesses to compete with
international standards, Chugh said.
EMC, a US based IT management company has spread to over 80 countries
during its 25-year operations. In the Asia Pacific region EMC operates
in 40 offices in 14 countries with over 3,500 employees.
With the demand for information growing rapidly at over 70 percent
per annum leading to multiple challenges, the need to access and share
information across global enterprises is on the rise.
With the need for IT, compliance, consolidation and continuity have
become integral aspects for growth.
Vice President Commercial and Channel Sales, Asia Pacific/Japan, Ron
Goh said our commencing operations in Colombo is not simply to make our
presence but to drive IT growth in the business sector which will entail
economic prospects to the country.
Goh responding to a query from the media regarding its operations in
South Asia said EMC has initiated partnerships with many countries in
the region and Bangladesh is an example.
Goh said it was the right time as vital sectors such as banks,
textile and apparel have taken an interest to streamline IT management.
EMC feels it could play a positive role in developing IT and its
potential market in the country.
