Gateway College to celebrate 10th anniversary
Established in 1997 in a converted house with 33 students and eight
members on the tutorial staff, Gateway College, Colombo will celebrate
its 10th anniversary during the coming academic year.
Teachers, parents and past pupils of the school will carry out
several activities throughout the academic year to mark this important
milestone, a media release from Gateway said.
The tenth anniversary celebrations were started by the school
management and staff with a teacher training workshop and get-together
at the Grand Hotel, Nuwara Eliya. The parents and the Alumni have taken
the lead to organise a carnival from December 8-10 to raise funds for
the College swimming pool.
A festival of games will be held next year with the participation of
all stakeholders and a walk will be organised to promote child
protection in July 2007.
Every year teachers of Gateway are sent to the United Kingdom on
teacher exchange programs. They are provided with the opportunity to
visit schools of excellence in the UK observing the British curriculum
in practice in the host country. They return with a wealth of experience
and exposure and are able to make improvements to the Teaching Learning
Program. Gateway maintains teacher exchange programs with Tonbridge
Girls Grammar School, Sutton High School and Aberdour school, the
release said. |
