IFS deal to supply and service Singer Pakistan
IFS Sri Lanka, the global enterprise applications company, managed to
strike a deal with Singer Pakistan, with an investment of US$ 500,000
making it one of the one of the largest single investments in Singer
Pakistan in its entire history of over a century, while Sri Lanka, has
recorded this as one of the largest software exports.
With this project Singer South Asia would have over 1,000 users, all
connected on a Web based ERP solution, one of the largest projects in
the region.
"This is an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution, which is a
merger of global ERP best practices and Singer company best practices
into one system, enabling Singer Pakistan to respond quickly to market
changes," Jayantha De Silva, Vice President, IFS Asia Pacific said,
explaining that this system facilitates resources to be used in a more
agile way to accomplish superior business performance and competitive
advantage.
He said that the ERP information system integrates all manufacturing
and related applications for the company and supports it by multi-module
application software that help a manufacturer or other business manage
the important parts of its business, including product planning, parts
purchasing, maintaining inventories, interacting with suppliers,
providing customer service, and tracking orders.
"This system would be deployed to 153 shops dispersed all over the
country making it one of the only ERP implementation in Pakistan
reaching the shops in most urbanised cities as well as the remotest
village," he said adding that it is a replication of the success we have
had in Singer Sri Lanka where currently over 150 shops all over island
use the IFS system for their entire branch operations.
