Malaysian Education Exhibition 2007
Study in Malaysia offers many options to
students. They can choose to study for a degree from a highly reputed
university in Australia, the United Kingdom (UK), the United States of
America (USA) or New Zealand as several of these universities have a
campus in Malaysia.
Students
with the required number of A-levels can entre a degree course straight
away. For students with O-level qualifications, there are several
pathways to enter the first or second year of a degree course. Private
Higher Education Institutes (PHEIs) provide Foundation, Pre-university
or Diploma courses, completion of these enable entry to the first or
second year of the university degree course.
The Malaysian Government, through the Ministry of Higher Education,
Malaysia, has ensured that these private institutes offer quality
education by introducing a requirement for accreditation of all courses
by the National Accreditation Board.
The Malaysian Education Exhibition 2007 is to be held at the Queens
Hotel, Kandy on 6th March and at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo on 10th and
11th March. In Kandy the exhibition will be opened by the Governor of
the Central Province, Mr. Tikiri Kobbakaduwa.
The exhibition in Colombo will be opened on 20th March by Her
Excellency Nazirah Hussain, High Commissioner for Malaysia in Sri Lanka.
The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on each date and entrance
is free. Representatives from the many prestigious universities and
colleges participating will be at the exhibition to meet with
prospective students and discuss their higher study options.
International Scholar Educational Services (ISES) has coordinated
overseas study for over one thousand Sri Lankans, matching aspirations
and entrance requirements to ensure students get the best possible
combination. Student counsellors work to achieve study options to suit
each student's financial status and in the country of choice.
ISES provides this unique service free of charge to students.
Recognising the fact that students need to think of and plan their
future profession and career prior to leaving school, Keerthi Jayasuriya,
Chairman of International Scholar, organised a National Symposium on
Career Guidance and Counselling at the BMICH in July 2006.
The Ministry of Education, the Post-graduate Institute of Management
and the University Grants Commission partnered this worthwhile and
highly successful venture.
Over one thousand students participated in and benefited from this
seminar and their keen interest and participation was very encouraging.
ISES plan to make this an annual event.
ISES pioneered the introduction of Malaysia as an alternative
destination for students seeking to pursue their higher education
overseas. Student counsellors have visited the Malaysian campuses and
seen for themselves the excellent facilities, dedication of lecturers
and the support given to students by administrative staff.
Sri Lankan students at the Malaysian universities and colleges
appeared to have settled down happily and were participating in an
enjoying campus life.
ISES also holds pre-departure briefing seminars for each batch of
students to ensure that they have all the information they need and that
fully confident about every aspect of studying in Malaysia.
Officials from The Malaysian High Commission kindly participate in
these seminars and students get first hand information with regard to
any questions they may have. Once they reach Malaysia, an official from
the institute is at the airport to meet them and ensure their safe
arrival at the university to college. |
