Burgher Association's Elders Home to come up shortly

The Burgher Association officially launched its mega social service project, "The Elders Home Project" at its annual general meeting last September. Among the many aspirations of the Association, the well being of the senior citizens as well as elders who are unable to care for themselves and need a caring home away from home during the twilight years of their life is a passionate dream of the governing body and members of the Association.

The projects gets under way with the establishment of the new elders home at Raymond Road, Nugegoda in the near future. The premises which has been leased out for this purpose is currently being refurbished to suit the needs of the home. The proposed elders home will provide comfortable accommodation to 16 inmates to begin with and will be gradually expanded as the project gains momentum.

Since the Association is eager to provide the highest quality of care and attention to its inmates the home will be equipped with necessary modern facilities, emergency medical attention and the best of medical care through professional medical staff. An admission fee and a monthly rental will be levied by the Association in order to defray the associated costs.

The Governing Body invites interested senior citizens to send in their applications for due consideration.
