Warm welcome for Miss World
by Beverley Jansz
The reigning Miss World, Tatana Kucharova, blond haired, 18 year old
High School student was accorded a warm welcome at the Galadari Hotel,
Colombo by General Manager, Sampath Siriwardena and his staff. Tatana
was born in the small and picturesque village of Tvnava and grew up in
Opocne in the Czech Republic.
She attracted public attraction in April 2006 when she won the final
of the Miss Czech Republic contest. Apart from being crowned the
country's most beautiful woman by the expert jury, she also took home
three other titles, Miss Elegance, Miss Congeniality and was voted as
having the nicest voice by radio listeners.
Tatana is 177 centimetres tall and weighs 54 kilograms. During the
Miss World competition, it wasn't just her figure (90-63-90) that caught
people's attention, both the International jury and audience appreciated
her natural looks and disposition.
Another point in her favour was her good knowledge of English. She
won the title of the 56th Miss World on an International poll that
included 104 other world beauties.

Tatana's hopes for victory in Miss World contest were strengthened by
earlier successes in the contest. In addition to winning second place in
the Miss Bikini contest, Tatana took 6th place in the Miss Dress
Designer award.
Bringing her to Sri Lanka to be part of the Fundraiser for on-going
charity projects of the Rotary Club of Colombo East would enrich her
tour diary as the reigning Miss World, as well as enhance the history of
the club that has always been a trend setter.
