Civilians in the grip of the LTTE in the Wanni
area have started fleeing to the Mannar Island following the LTTE's
rigid preparations for confrontations with the Security Forces,
Naval spokesperson Commander D.K.P. Dassanayake said.

High ranking military officials in the East said
that Sri Lanka's Armed Forces proved their dedication and
capabilities in liberating the innocent Tamils from the jaws of
terrorists with the capture of the East including its nerve centre -
