14.4 % growth in exports in first five months of 2007
Sri Lanka's export sector recorded a 14.4%
positive growth during the first five months of the year, compared
to the corresponding period in 2006 Export Development Board sources
said. This positive trend is reflected in all major export sectors.

Shippers' Council up in arms against arbitrary freight increases
The primary task of the Shippers' Council is to
eliminate undue and arbitrary increases in terminal handling charges
and other charges outside the freight rate which is a stumbling
