Another award for LHI
LHI won the silver award in the category of Export of Business and
Professionals Services - Large, for the second consecutive year at the
17th Annual National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) awards ceremony held at
the Colombo Hilton recently. Last year LHI (Lanka Hydraulic Institute
Ltd.) won the silver award for the first time in its history for its
performance in the export of knowledge.

The NCE awards recognises national contributions of local
organisations in terms of export and their gain to the economy’s
prosperity. LHI is the leader in the export of knowledge in consultancy
services in the fields of coastal engineering, water resources and urban
water. In employment LHI has a pool of specialist engineers in hydraulic
engineering with both local and overseas training backed by an
experienced and skilled support team.
The expertise within LHI has transformed the company from a local
organisation to a company working internationally, according to a press
release issued by the company.
With the majority of its turnover being generated by overseas
projects, LHI is focused on securing more foreign projects. LHI already
having worked on projects ranging from Algeria to South Korea and also
in India and the Maldives Islands is equipped with a wide array of
experience under its belt. LHI is currently working on India’s Hooghly
Estuary (Kolkata harbour) project, which is expected to continue till
2010. Local projects LHI is working on presently is the Dikkowita
fishery harbour which will be the largest fishery harbour as well as the
first dedicated deep sea harbour in the island once completed.
LHI made a record breaking turnover last financial year of Rs. 136
million, a turnover the company experienced for the first time in
history.
