PM launches Pan Asia Bank's

Pan Asia Bank has launched a special loan scheme Ranaviru Harasara
for members of the forces. The scheme is available for currently serving
service personnel, the disabled war heroes and families of those who
were killed or went missing in action during the war.
The scheme was originally launched as a special deposit scheme to
cater to Sri Lanka's war heroes during the peak of the war in December
2008 by Ratnasiri Wickramanayake, the then Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.
The second phase of this special account scheme, was launched by
Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne at his office on June 11, 2010 with the
participation of Deputy minister of Finance & Planning Chandrasiri
Gajadeera, Chairman of Pan Asia Bank A. G. Weerasinghe, Corporate
Management team of Pan Asia bank, officials from the Defence Ministry,
Heads of the Seva Vanitha units of the three forces, Chairperson of the
Ranaviru Authority and officials of the welfare directorates of the
three forces.
Ranaviru Harasara account holders are entitled to receive an
additional 2.5% interest for their deposits and will be serviced by a
dedicated officer at each Pan Asia branch. In addition, they also
receive a free specially branded ATM card and a special savings pass
book. Children of account holders are given gifts of bicycles and
computers based on their Ranaviru children's savings account balance.
Another unique feature is a hospitalisation room charge expenses
re-imbursement facility of up to Rs. 30,000 per year for a child.
