Second Reading of Budget passed
The vote on the second Reading of the 2010 Budget was
passed in Parliament with a majority of 63 votes. The final count said
that there were 138 votes for and 75 votes against the Budget. Eleven
members were absent.

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa yesterday directed Deputy
Prisons Reforms Minister Vijith Vijayamuni Zoysa to make arrangements to
enable UNP Kalutara district MP Palitha Thevarapperuma who is in remand
to participate in Parliamentary sessions without delay.

As they referred to the IMF, I should remind this
House as to how the UNP received aid from the IMF, World Bank and ADB at
different occasions. To begin with they agreed to a set of conditions in
1980 to obtain Rs. 60 million from the World Bank and IMF.
