HFC, Kurunegala U-17 Central Zone Schools Champs

BASKETBALL: Holy Family Convent, Kurunegala crushed their home town rivals Maliyadeva by a massive margin of 75 points to 21 points to become champions at the Central Zone Schools Girls Under-17 Basketball Tournament organised by the Sri Lanka Schools basketball Association and St. Anthony's Girls College, kandy and worked off at St. Anthony's Girls College basketball courts in Kandy during the week.

Top scorer for Holy family Convent was Pooja Dharmakeerthi with 31 points and was supported by Chamodi Cooray 25 points. For Maliyadeva Balika S. Jayamini got 7 points.

Pooja Dharmakeerthi was adjudged the Best Player of the Tournament while Chamodi Cooray was adjudged the Best Offensive Player. S. Jayamini took the award as the Best Defensive Player.

The Principal of st. Anthony's Girls College Mrs. Padma Lekamge was the chief guest and she distributed the awards.

Girls High School on the consolation finals defeating st. Joseph's Balika Vidyalay, Kegalle 44-29 to clinch the third place.
