Economic Centres to display price lists
by Uditha KUMARASINGHE
The Co-operatives and Internal Trade Ministry has decided to take
stern action against the traders in Economic Centres who have not
displayed price lists in their shops.
Instructions have already been issued to the Ministry officials to
intensify raids and take stern action against such errant traders by
taking back their shops, Co-operatives and Internal Trade Minister
Johnston Fernando told the Sunday Observer yesterday. The Minister said
that his Ministry had received a large number of complaints that some
traders in these Economic Centres have not displayed their price lists.
Ministry officials have already been instructed to give final notice to
all such shop owners in Economic Centres to display their price lists
before the deadline, September 13 (Monday).
Therefore, traders in the Economic Centres should display their price
lists before Monday. Failure to comply with this will result in such
shops being taken back by the Government with immediate effect, he said.
