Displaced Muslims being resettled
Minister of Justice Athauda Seneviratne said that the Government has
taken steps to resettle Muslims displaced due to the conflict.
The Minister said that a large number of Muslims were displaced. The
Government settled them in Puttalam and provides all facilities. The
Minister said that the resettlement of Muslims displaced in the Mannar
district has reached the final stage following the initiatives by
Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa who plays a lead role
in resettlement activities.
The minister said that Law and Order was not maintained properly in
the North when terrorism prevailed and that the setting up of courts in
the Northern and Eastern Provinces has begun.
He said that steps have been taken to establish three court houses in
the Mannar district where a large number of Muslims reside.
The Minister said who has been the President of the Sri Lanka
Palestine Friendship Association for many decades said that Sri Lanka
always expects Libiyan support to rebuild the nation after the LTTE
battle.
The Libiyan Ambassador said that job opportunities for Sri Lankans in
Libya will be further expanded.
The Ambassador also said that the Libyan people were aware of the
peaceful environment prevailing in Sri Lanka and that he hoped that
Libyan investors will look forward to investment opportunities in Sri
Lanka in the future.
