The Sunday OBSERVER in entertainment forefront:
Showstopper this Saturday
By Mahes PERERA
Never before have Sri Lankan music lovers had the opportunity to
relish the time honoured hits of the 60s. The Beatlemania fad will hit
the town of Colombo when the Fab Beatles jet down to stage an amazing
show that spells good entertainment, this Saturday, (September 18) at
the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Dance your cares away!
This brilliant show is presented by Mystere Entertainment Lanka in
collaboration with the Sunday Observer in the entertainment forefront
and Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel.
Rush, rush get yourself a ticket 'cos the tickets are moving swiftly
off the counters.
Don't be left out in the cold! Be a part of the experience. Be
transported to your fourteen year old self and let your hair down - sing
and dance along with The Fab Beatles. After all we are pop star wannabes
at heart and it will be a thrill to sing along with them and be amazed
that you know every word of the songs.
This is the first time The Fab Beatles will be in Asia and the first
time they will be performing in Sri Lanka and believe me they are
looking forward to it. Through the Sri Lankan promoters Mystere
Entertainment Lanka they have heard that there is a large Beatles fan
base in Sri Lanka and are eagerly looking forward to meeting them. So
make sure you are at the Convention Centre to greet the foursome who
artistically have kept the music of The Beatles alive for all to enjoy -
young or old. In today's world of hip-hop, rap and Latin who isn't a
Beatles fan?
You can be sure that on September 18 all your favourite Beatles songs
will be sung for your pleasure. The Fab Beatles show starts with the
early Hamburg material and goes right through, all the singles and album
tracks to 'Let It Be Me' and the 'break-up' with a repertoire that is
second to none!
A lot of research has gone into the costumes The Fab Beatles wear.
Each outfit is a complete replica of the originals. From the early
Cavern suits to the splendour of the full Sgt Pepper Vigalia, The Fab
Beatles pull out all stops at each concert they perform to give you
extraordinary memories you won't forget for a long long time,
considering the fact that every instrument played is completely 'live'
with no programming.
When the first chord of The Beatles music fills the air everyone and
has the opportunity to let themselves go - 'cos this is the music they
grew up with!
Formed in 1991 The Fab Beatles have risen through sheer hard work and
dedication to be one of the most soughtafter Beatles tribute bands in
the world today. They have performed many concerts all over the United
Kingdom and Ireland, were a popular choice in Europe, Middle East, the
Americas, Germany, Yugoslavia and the Caribbean. Recently they were on
tour in Switzerland and Holland and their itinerary is packed till
February 2011. Last week they performed concerts in Russia and were an
overwhelming hit. Before that they toured Mexico and according to Kev
Day the leader, the receptions they received were good and hoped they
could perform again in Mexico.
The band comprises Kev Day as John Lennon - vocals, guitar, piano and
harmonica,
Andy Southard as Paul McCartney - bass and vocals,
Steve Hemming as George Harrison - guitar and vocals.
Pete Isbell as Ringo Starr - drums and vocals.
Chosen by the BBC as 'The Best' and commissioned by EMI to promote
the "Beatles 1" CD, it is a well accepted fact that the Fab's sound is
the closest you will ever hear to the originals.
The band members use only authentic instruments and can boast to have
the very drum-kit Ringo used on The Beatles 1964 American tour no-less!
The Fab Beatles are the industry's choice and considered the ultimate
standard to aspire to by other acts.
See and hear them you'd be surprised. It's going to be a brilliant
night-music and dancing like you've never experienced before.
It will be the best thing in your life and at the end of the show on
September 18 you will undoubtedly exclaim "Oh what a night!... what a
great set and what a fantastic band. They really made my day!! |
