Janishka a haul of 11 wkts

A sensational collapse by St. Sylvesters College saw Trinity College
score a dramatic innings and 54 runs victory in their inter school
cricket match concluded at the Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy yesterday, the
match ended shortly after tea.
In the pre-lunch the game appeared to be evenly poised with
Trinitians in reply to St. Sylvesters total of 149 all out were
struggling at 127 for 7. But the lions tail wagged vigorously to total
240 all out.
Skipper Akila Jayasundera top scored with a hard hit 55 but there was
a middle order batting slump Rajitha Jayatunga scored 43 with 1 six and
3 fours.
But the tailenders who bolstered the total with some lusty hitting.
Tissa Bandara scored 34, put on 50 for the ninth wicket with Almia
Fernando who made 35 not out.
St. Sylvesters facing a deficit of 91 runs found right arm off
spinner Janishka Premasinghe virtually unplayable and wickets fell at
regular intervals. They lost their first four wickets for 12 runs with
the score at 28 they lost four wickets without any addition to the total
which made it 28 for 8. Then at 37 they lost their last two wickets to
be all out for 37 in just 22.3 overs in a pathetic batting display. None
of the batsmen entered double figures and four batsmen were dismissed
for ducks. Janishka Premasinghe took 7 for 19 off 10.3 overs. Heshan
Wanniarachchi took 2 for 7. In the first innings Premasinghe took 4 for
45 giving him a match bag of 11 for 64.
St. Sylvesters 149 all out and 37 all out in 22.3 overs, (Janishka
Premasinghe 7 for 19, Heshan Wanniarachchi 2 for 7).
