The Saints come back
Following successful concerts held in 2007, 2008 and 2009, the
popular 'Saints' ensemble returns this November for their much awaited
performance "Renaissance IV".

Choral group 'Saints' |
The choral group is made up of members who attended "Saints" schools
during their respective academic years from which the title of the Choir
naturally evolved. In precise four part harmony they have brought back
beautiful musical memories to their captive audiences, through their
renditions of a collection of perennial favourites interspersed with
more recent hits, and a few popular Sinhala songs as well.
This year, the group will once again come together at their
performance "Renaissance IV" which will be held on November 7th at the
Lionel Wendt Auditorium, and continue to enthrall their loyal fans, with
a brand of choral music that is unique and distinctive. Led by Josephian
Suren Abeysekera who also conducts performances, the 1st Tenors are
Sebastianite Carlo Fernando, Antonian Priyanke Perera and Gladwyn
Ramanathen from St. Benedict's College. The 2nd Tenors comprise
Josephians Russell Gomesz and Allan Perera, and Benedictines
Denzil Perera and Placidus Gomez.
The 1st Bass is sung by Benedictine Nalake Fernando who incidentally
is the President of the "Saints", and also includes Kenneth Pereira from
St. Mary's College and Janith Abeysekera from St. Joseph's. Providing
the deep 2nd Bass to the choir is Benedictine Bosco Fonseka who is the
music Director for the Choir, ably supported by Thomian Rohan Fernando.
A special feature of this year's performance is the opportunity provided
for two groups of young musicians, namely DVRTH which is a threesome of
lasses from the hill capital, and the Lawrencian Choir from St.
Lawrence's College, who will perform Guest spots during the evening. As
in previous years, this year too the 'Saints' will ensure that they
perform their share of responsibility to the less fortunate, by donating
part of the proceeds realised from the performance to "Achievers" which
is a School for differently abled children.
