Deyata Kirula lights up Moneragala

Massive development projects have been implemented in Moneragala
district to coincide with the “Deyata Kirula” exhibition to be held in
Buttala from February 4 to 11 next year.
A spokesman for the Finance Ministry said that the
Udawalawe-Tanamalvila Road at a cost of Rs. 786 million, sixteen water
supply schemes costing Rs. 19 million and self employment projects for
12,000 Samurdhi families are among such major development projects.
He said that the Buttala district hospital which is one of the oldest
hospitals in Uva province will be refurbished with a mortuary and
toilets being constructed anew, he said.
The renovation of the Yudagama Raja Maha Viharaya and the
construction of its Dharmasalawa have been commenced, he said.
He said that several major water supply schemes including the
Pellewela pipe borne water scheme benefitting 400 households have been
implemented with community participation, he said.
The Udaweva tank and several other tanks will be renovated to fulfil
the needs of 500 farmer families and to cultivate 650 acres of paddy
land, he said.
