Peace building measures in North commended

Ministers in the North have commended the peace building measures of
President Mahinda Rajapaksa in the Northern Province.
Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minister
Douglas Devananda has called upon President Rajapaksa to strengthen all
activities of the Government to stabilise the living conditions of the
people in the North.
Minister Devananda made this appeal during the Northern Province
Development Review meeting at the Wanni Security Forces Headquarters in
Vavuniya under the patronage of President Rajapaksa last week.
“Credit must go to the President and the Security Forces for
liberating the people in the North and the East from the clutches of the
LTTE.
“The Government has launched various development projects to develop
the North. It is the duty of the authorities to expedite the completion
of those projects, he said.
Industries and Commerce Minister Rishad Badiudeen said that with the
dawn of peace in the North, the Government is committed to uplift the
living standards of the people in the Northern province.
“The Government has focused attention on providing infrastructure
facilities to boost the economy in the region.
The Minister said that the Government has allocated funds to
reconstruct buildings including school buildings which were damaged due
to LTTE terrorism.
President Rajapaksa, Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa
and UPFA Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa are taking steps to improve the
living standards of the people in the North, the Minister said.
