Travel Trade men's and women's badminton today at Mount Lavinia

BADMINTON: The 16th Travel Trade Sports Club men's and women's Badminton Championships 2011 will be held today, 29th January at S. Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia Indoor Stadium from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm.

25 teams from 12 TTSC firms will take part in 03 categories, namely the men's open, the men's veterans (over 40) and the women's.

SriLankan Airlines are the holders of all 03 titles at the last tournament held in October 2010 at the same venue. Classic Travels finished as the runners-up, in the men's open.

The 2010 women-s runners-up, Jetwing Travels and the men's veterans runners-up, Ceylon Continental are not participating.

The Teams:

Men's Open / 11 teams: SriLankan Airlines (defending champions), Classic Travels (2010 runners-up), Cinnamon Lakeside, Blue Water/Wadduwa, Traveller Global, Gateway Airport Garden Hotel/Seeduwa, Qatar Airways, Mermaid Hotel and Club/Kalutara, Hotel Topaz/Kandy, Avani/Kalutara and Aitken Spence Travels.

Women's / 05 teams: SriLankan Airlines, (defending Champions), Cinnamon Lakeside , Gateway Airport Garden Hotel/Seeduwa, Mermaid Hotel and Club/Kalutara and John Keells Leisure. Men's Veterans (Over-40) / 09 teams: SriLankan Airlines (defending Champions), Blue Water/Wadduwa, Traveller Global, Gateway Airport Garden Hotel/Seeduwa, Cinnamon Lakeside, John Keells Leisure, Avani/Kalutara, Hotel Topaz/Kandy and Aitken Spence Travels.

There will be a special award for the most outstanding player of the tournament in all three segments.
