St. Sylvester's athlete Asardeen three 'firsts' in dual meet in
Chennai

ATHLETICS: Three events - three firsts. That was the proud
achievement of St. Sylvester's College, Kandy athlete H.A.M. Asardeen in
the Dual Athletic Meet between Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu at the Nehru
Stadium in Chennai between 19th to 24th December 2011. Asardeen running
in the under 14 age group for boys, came first in the 100 metres in 12.3
seconds, 200 metres again first in 25.5 seconds and first in the Long
Jump with a distance of 5.42 metres.
Asardeen is a Year 10 student of St. Sylvester's College, Kandy and
is a talented athlete with a bright future. He qualified to run in the
meet in Chennai when he won all three events at the Junior Athletic Meet
of Lanka Lions Sports Club held early last year.

On your marks and H.A.M. Asardeen (on left) is set to take
off in the final of the 100 metres for boys under 14 running
for Sri Lanka against Tamil Nadu in the dual Nehru Stadium
in Chennai. Asardeen won the event in 12.3 seconds. He also
won the 200 metres and the long jump events. Altogether
there were 32 runners who competed from the heats in the 100
metres event.
