TNA’s invitation to UNP, a good move

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr. Rajitha
Senaratne said the TNA’s decision to invite Southern parties for a joint
May Day rally in Jaffna was a good move.
“It is a very positive development for a Southern party to have its
May Day rally in Jaffna and I am happy about it. Even President Mahinda
Rajapaksa said he was happy about the UNP conducting its May Day rally
in Jaffna.
I was happy when I heard that the UNP had teamed up with the TNA to
hold a May Day rally”, the Minister told the Sunday Observer.
“It is also a positive sign that the TNA is willing to join the
Sinhala parties in the South. I was very happy when I read in the
newspapers that Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and TNA MP
R.Sampanthan had held the national flags together,” the Minister said.
Dr.Senaratne said the TNA held a May Day rally in Jaffna after many
decades and the Opposition Leader and UNPers could go to the North due
to the Government freeing the North from the clutches of terrorists.
