Lanka sevens team lose both matches
The Sri Lanka sevens team lost both matches on the first day of the
Shanghai Rugby sevens in Shanghai, China yesterday. Confronting Korea in
their first match the Sri Lankans went down fighting by 12 points (one
goal, one try) to 17 (one goal, two tries) after the scores read
five-all at half time.
Dinusha Chathuranga and Srinath Sooriyabandara scored the tries for
Sri Lanka. In the second game Sri Lanka were trounced by Hong Kong by 36
points (three goals, three tries) to 7 (one goal) with Dinusha
Chathuranga scoring the solitary try for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka will play two more matches today in their group in this
10-nation tourney in which Asian heavyweights Japan and Kazakhstan are
not taking part.
