Senior Superintendent of Police, Roshan Fernando will assume duties
as the SSP of Nugegoda Division from today.
Former Royal College athletic captain SSP Fernando joined Sri Lanka
Police in 1982 as a sub inspector. As one of the youngest SSPs in the
country, he has served as SSP in police divisions of Chilaw, Puttalam,
Jaffna and Gampola during last six years.
SSP Fernando who has completed three decades of exemplary service as
a dedicated police officer, had been a versatile sportsman during his
day, captaining Royal team in 1979 with distinction to win the Sir John
Tarbet championships and setting many public schools athletic records.
He had the honour of joining the first batch of the elite Police
Special Task Force (STF). SSP Fernando, during his career as a dynamic
police officer, has been commended by IGPs on seven occasions. SSP
Fernando, who had special training in Israel, Japan and Singapore, made
an active contribution during the battle against terrorism and was
awarded Northern humanitarian operation medal for his services in Jaffna
Division during the 2006-2009 battle against terrorism.
