Mobitel increases broadband speeds

“Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd, recently introduced Dual Carrier HSPA+ (DC-HSPA+) technology, which coupled with the power of its parent company SLT’s extensive fibre network, offers one of the fastest broadband speeds in the country.

The enabling of Mobitel’s network with HSPA+ technology enhanced service and high speeds of up to a theoretical maximum of 42Mbps with regards to internet connectivity to its broadband customers. The DC-HSPA+ will be available across Mobitel’s footprint islandwide” a spokesman for Mobitel said.

Odel featured in ‘How to Set up and Run a Fashion Label’

Otara Gunewardene’s success in building Odel as a brand and a business has become a case study in an international best seller by Visiting Lecturer at the London College of Fashion and consultant to the industry, Toby Meadows.

Ms Gunewardene and Odel have received a double-page spread in the second edition of his book ‘How to Set up and Run a Fashion Label’ currently translated into six languages.

In it, author Meadows summarises the Odel story, from its humble beginnings in the boot of founder Otara Gunewardene’s station wagon to its growth.

SL and France in commercial tie-up

The Chairman of Matiere, Philippe Matière and Secretary Ports and Highways, R.W. Ranjith Pemasiri, signed a commercial agreement, on behalf of the Road Development Authority for the supply of 46 metallic bridges to be installed islandwide.

This priority project of the Government will be realised on co-financing. The cost of the civil works will be borne by the Government. The French part of the financing is through a French Treasury soft loan of 22,050,000 Euros at a very concessional rate on a long-term basis.

Sri Lanka is a recipient of The Emerging Country Fund .
