'Windows 8, an impetus to app developers'

Microsoft Windows 8, the latest update to the Windows operating system, has revolutionised the local PC industry across the spaces of PC hardware, applications developers and enterprise customer to provide new computing experience to PC users.

With the introduction of Windows 8, Application Developers and Microsoft OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) partners in the business of manufacturing and importing PC hardware has reached new heights in developing newer and better products. Windows 8 provides a reliable platform for enterprise customers to be in line with today's fast paced dynamic business environment, Microsoft Country Manager, Sriyan De Silva Wijayaratne said.

"The phenomenal change in lifestyle that comes along with Windows 8, is all about delivering corporate values and experience in apps. Over 1.5 billion people around the world now experience the new change and new ecosystem in Windows stores which is great for content and to create content", he said.

"Launched in October last year, Windows 8 has already provided an impetus to local App developers who constitute a vibrant sector in Sri Lanka. It has created excitement among the App community to build Apps across various fields and sectors including games, lifestyle entertainment, health , cookery and business" he said.
