Britain condemns Rizana's execution
The British government along with the European Union and human rights
organisations around the world condemned the execution of Rizana Nafeek
by Saudi Arabian authorities last Wednesday. Britain's Foreign Office
Minister for the Middle East and North Africa Alistair Burt condemned
former housemaid Nafeek's beheading despite worldwide appeals for her
sentence to be commuted.
"I condemn the execution of Rizana Nafeek in Saudi Arabia, despite
the many appeals for her sentence to be commuted," Burt said in a
statement. He said the UK opposes all use of the death penalty as a
matter of principle, whatever the crime committed.
